Objective:
The students will be able to correctly
label the uniform of a fire fighter.
Motivation:
I will sing the "Fire fighter song" for the students and then have them
sing it with me. I will then pass out drawing paper to each student and
tell them to draw a picture of a fire fighter.
Goal for learner:
Tell students that today we will be learning about fire fighters ( what
they do, what they wear, etc.)
Teach content:
- Have students come and sit in a circle on the green carpet and share their pictures of fire fighters.
- Read the book, Fire Fighters , and discuss what fire fighters do, the tools they use, and the parts of their uniforms.
- Have students stand up and I will say a part of a fire fighter uniform and the students will point to the part of their body it goes on.
- Have students go back to their seats.
- Write the words helmet, face shield, mask, gloves, pickax, boots, and pants on the board.
- Pass out the label the fire fighter worksheet and have students fill in the blanks where they think each word goes.
- Pass out fire safety manuals and have students complete pages 20 and 21.
Practice:
The students will be drawing a picture of a fire fighter, completing
the label the fire fighter worksheet, and completing pages 20 and 21
in their fire safety manuals.
Evaluation:
I will collect the label the fire fighter worksheets and grade them and
I will also go over the answers to pages 20 and 21 in the fire safety
manuals.
Closing:
I will show the students my fire fighter Frank paper doll and show them
how I can dress him in four different uniforms and explain how each
uniform is important to a fire fighter. I will give each student a
fire fighter Frank and four uniforms to take home to color and cut
out.
